It was built by Shah Jahan as a symbol of love for his beloved wife, Mumtaz Mahal. Often referred to as a poem in white marble, Taj Mahal is a fine example of fusion of many architectural styles.

Afternoon enjoy a visit to the Agra Fort, which is built in red sandstone and has magnificent palaces, halls of public and private audience and beautiful gardens. This is where Emperor Shahjahan was kept under house arrest by his third son Aurangzeb and spent the last year of his life viewing the Taj Mahal from the little octagonal tower in the Fort. Later drive to Ranthambore en route visiting the abandoned Mughal City of Fatehpur Sikri.

Fatehpur Sikri, the ghost city, 35 Kms from Agra. Fatehpur Sikri built in red sandstone in honour of Saint Salim Chisti (who foretold the birth of 3 sons to Emperor Akbar), is an example of robust stability combined with originality. Each important edifice here represents a type in itself. Also enjoy the stopover at Abhaneri Step well located 80 Kms before Jaipur city for a stopover.

RANTHAMBHORE NATIONAL PARK:
Sprawling over an undulating terrain of Aravali and Vindhyan ranges, in the heart of Rajasthan, is the wilderness of Ranthambore National Park, one of the finest Tiger Reserves of India. Formerly the hunting grounds of the Maharaja of Jaipur, it was declared a National Park in 1972. Dry deciduous forests, lakes, meadows, mountains and forts combine to create a park of great beauty, which still has a healthy population of tigers.
